“We want to create a community of readers so they can share their feelings about their favorite books and authors,” said Bogan.
The last book they finished reading and discussed at their meeting was Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. The book is about WWII and two women who become friends become during war.
“As the librarian I have an obligation to nurture and inspire reading,” said Blackson. “It’s one of my passions. I love reading and adult literature. I want other kids to get excited about reading like I do.”
The club currently has six members and they hope to have more later on. The book club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in the library.
“I love the book club,” said Bogan. “I thought about forming a book club last year but the timing was bad. When I met Ms. Blackson for the first time we started to talk about our love for reading. So we started the book club.”
