Teacher Profile – Michael Marmolejo

Michael Marmolejo
Computer Studies Magnet teacher

How many years have you been teaching in Carl Hayden? About six years.
What’s your best memory that you’ve had so far? The best memory was when I didn’t say my birthday for a long time until a certain student said happy birthday to me and that moment 105 students sang happy birthday to me. That just made me know how much they appreciate me.
What do you like to do during your lunchtime? Generally I take care of business and do work.
Do students come to you for your advice? why? Students come for my advice and I give them the wisdom of not to make mistakes like I did before.
What did you wanted to be before considering being a teacher? I wanted to be a film director but I didn’t go far because the schools for that kind of career are in California. Then I wanted to be a video game designer and it didn’t work either, so that led me to teaching in high school.
What do you always tell students? Do what you love and pursue it with your heart and love.
What’s your favorite hobby? Play video games.
Anything else you would like to say? It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice.
